As the outdoor recreation industry grows, so does our impact on wild places. In partnership with Travel Northern BC and Destination BC, I traveled to Tumbler Ridge to document the untapped recreation opportunities of this small region at the foothills of the Canadian Rockies. As one of only two Geoparks in North America, Tumbler Ridge is recognized by UNESCO as an area of global geological significance, due in no small part to its abundance of fossil records. I created a portfolio of winter sports imagery for the tourism board, and my story on Tumbler Ridge was published by Adventure Sports Network.

As the outdoor recreation industry grows, so does our impact on wild places. How a place is presented in tourism photos is an opportunity to foster more conscious visitors who recognize and monitor their impact.
